Experienced marketers were no better than chance at picking the more sales-effective TV ad.
Hartnett, Kennedy, Sharp and Greenacre asked a global sample of marketers to predict which television advertisements were more or less sales-effective. Their predictions were correct no more often than random chance.
Why it matters: internal expertise is valuable, but confidence alone is not evidence. A fast outside signal can help teams challenge assumptions before committing spend.
